108 Sun Salutations at Yoga for Peace
On Sunday, 21st September 2008, people will be doing 108 Sun Salutations at parks in major cities across the world as part of the Yoga for Peace events, a project of New York CitiWorks, Inc. and organized by Global Mala, a non-profit. The countries listed include Argentina, Canada, Croatia, England, Holland, Italy, Puerto Rico, Tanzania and the United States.
Their website says that “Peace begins within, and it is our goal to Unite the Yoga Community to create Peace in the world.” Maybe the Pentagon should be handing out free Yoga mats to the Iraqis. Might be much more effective than what they’re doing now…
Anyway, if you’re interested, 20 cities in the U.S. have a Yoga for Peace event lined up, including Los Angeles, NYC, Boston and Washington D.C.
The NYC event takes place on the Center Lawn in Battery Park from noon to 3 pm. Suggested donations include an online registration fee of $20 and on-spot $25. Children age 13-18 for $10 and below 13 for free. You need to bring your own Yoga mats, water, sunscreen and towels. And considering that its a 4 hour event, you should probably hide some snacks or candy bars in your pockets.
You can see the full list of participating cities and their schedules here.

Woke up this morning in Sherwood Park, Alberta at 5:30 am and completed for the first time 108 sun salutations in 2 hours and felt a very strong energy flow and connection to all those who can physically take part in this and those unable to do so. Very powerful experience.
Thank you. On behalf of everyone who supports this, thank you.
