Image Hotel in Turkey Fires All Male Staff

Ok. So there’s this hotel in Marmaris, Turkey, where it seems there was a lotta hanky-panky going on between the hotel’s male staff and the female tourists who were guests at the hotel. Finally, the hotel manager couldn’t take the sexcapades between the mostly British and Russian female tourists and the hotel staff, and fired every male employed by the 27 room hotel. The name of the hotel? The Image hotel. Rich irony…

AP report has the manager saying that the last straw for her (yeah, she’s a woman named Pelin Yucel) was seeing the bartender, who its seems was basically a nice chap, coming out of the bathroom with a British tourist.

Before you start judging the Image hotel or Turkey, lemme add that its no big deal, actually. The only difference here is that this came out into the news, while the exact same thing goes on at hotels around the world. I’ve experienced this personally with some East European backpackers, and what happens is that single women (or all female groups) in foreign countries tend to look out for Gigolos and one-night stands, and the easiest way to do it is to strike up a conversation with the hotel staff.

They’re just more ‘pliable’ and open to anything you suggest. Its kinda like a travel story for them - ‘I went to so-and-so country and had a great time with this guy who worked at the counter in that hotel.’ So what? So long as its safe, and no one gets hurt, its just natural.

Course, sometimes it goes over the line, like when the British think they can do it anywhere. They might overlook sex on public beaches in some countries, but not in  Dubai.
