Los Angeles BBQ Festival at Santa Monica Beach
BBQ, beer, beaches and bands. That’s what you call a good LA weekend. Noon to 6 pm, Sept 13 and 14, Santa Monica Beach gets converted into one giant BBQ grill for the Los Angeles BBQ Festival (www.labbqfest.com/), with authentic barbeque from Texas, Kansas City and Mississippi, in addition to the local Los Angeles bbq pitmasters like Parise Pit BBQ, Bristol farms and Baby Blues BBQ.
Dessert from Essential Chocolate Collection with cupcakes from Leyna’s Kitchen. Beer garden sponsored by Firestone and Sierra Nevada. Live entertainment to make it more of a fun event than a gastronomic fest.
Location at the beach’s north parking lot, next to the Santa Monica Pier, and admission $10, plus $10 for every meal purchased (+ $4 for the desserts and $5 for beer), which includes 1/3 to 1/2 lb of meat and a side dish.
There’s also a $50 VIP pass, which can be purchased online and which gives you access to both days, using which you can skip the lines at food and beverage booths. You also get a 2008 CozmoDeck and a festival t-shirt for free.
Entertainment line-up includes live performances by the Palominos, Cash’d Out, Ticket to Ride, Country Gone Awry, and Metal Shop. No shortage of Los Angeles hotels for the weekend bbq fest, but the organizers recommend the Radisson LA Airport.
