During the holiday season, the whole of NYC lights up like one big Christmas tree, and of course, there’s a whole bunch of New York attractions which are put up just for Christmas.

Each year, Bergdorf Goodman, located along Fifth Ave, south of Central Park, puts up  stylish window displays for the holiday season that are well known for their innovative use and mix of fashion and antiques. Photo by John Morton via flickr (creative commons).

The Fifth Ave shopping rush during the Holiday season is a major attraction all by itself. There’s a good summary of it here and here.

And the Christmas lights and shopping an all the cheeriness is just a prelude to the New Yera’s eve bedlam and madness, which turns New York City into one big party zone centred around Times Square.

Even the New York hotels get in on the act, with special packages for Christmas and events for guests. The Hilton New York is offering a package that includes a Christmas Holiday walking tour. The Bryant Park Hotel has teamed up with Coup de Coeur Shopping Tours and Benefit Cosmetics to design a customized four-hour shopping and beauty excursion through New York City.
