What’s With All The Stolen Camels?
I’ve heard of copycat crimes and copycat movies and lots of weird stuff, but a string of stolen camels? I bumped into this article about a stolen camel, and did some investigative reporting (aka fired up Google), and found that stealing camels sems to be the newest fad among the yuppies.
First, there was this news report of a life size camel worth $2000 that was made out of chicken wire, duck tape, insulation and camel fur, that was stolen from outside one the restaurants in Starkville, Mississippi. Starkville Daily News reports that the camel was found outside the house of the Mississippi State University chapter of Delta Gamma sorority. The camel has been mutilated, and now appears flattened, cut open and unable to stand.
Worse yet, the owner of the Shaherazad’s restaurant, who also owns the camel, had a naming contest going for the camel. Winner would have won dinner for two once a month at Shaherazad’s for an entire year.
And the latest news is that a real 3 year old camel named Moses and his buddy Coco, an old pony, have gone AWOL from the Capital of Texas Zoo near Austin.
Zoo founder Michael Hicks said that the 3-year-old camel and the nearly quarter-century old pony, named Coco, are “best friends” and follow each other.
If you see the dynamic duo in the pics above enjoying the grass and the Austin attractions, contact the zoo immediately. There’s a $400 reward out for news of the missing duo. Photo copyrights - Capital of Texas Zoo.
