Dubai’s Atlantis the Palm, in the Palm Jumeirah development area, is throwing a $20 million bash as part of its launch. Wall Street Journal reports that a host of Hollywood and Bollywood stars have been drafted for the Thursday launch. Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra will perform for a 2,000-person, star-studded guest list.

And South African tycoon Solomon Kerzner, along with local partner Nakheel Developers, who jointly own the hotel, have hired the same firm who organized the Beijing Olympics fireworks to light up the entire Palm Jumeirah skyline with fireworks.

Lindsay Lohan is one of the stars in attendance, with her partner DJ Samantha Ronson providing the music to swing. You’ll remember we wrote about the Atlantis a few weeks back, when there was an outcry to free Sammy the Whale from the Atlantis’ giant aquarium.

The Atlantis has been built at a stupendous cost of about a billion dollars, and has 1539 rooms, with all the amenitis and facilities to make it one of the best resorts in the world.
