Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah hotel Issues Etiquette Guide

The conviction and 3 month prison sentence of the Dubai beach sex duo Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors seems to have scared the bejusus out of the wink-and-ignore luxury hotels who’re way more ‘Westernized’ than is known or acceptable in Dubai.

The Times, UK reports that the Madinat Jumeirah hotel has printed out some ‘etiquette guides’ and is leaving the guides at tables during the weekly Friday brunch event at the hotel.

It is strongly recommended that you employ discretion when expressing affection in public. Anything more than a peck on the cheek could offend those around you and even possibly lead to police involvement.

The Times says that the lavish affairs last from late morning into the early evening when diners can enjoy unlimited food and alcohol for a fixed entry fee.

And here’s a sample of what goes on at these brunches from Timeout Dubai. But as it drew near to 4pm at The Wharf (one of two restaurants that host the Mina A’ Salam Friday Brunch), a man with chocolate whiskers smeared on his face began barking like a dog.

I think I can come up with an acronym for this whole mess - SUI (Sex under influence). If there’s any more instances of sex on Dubai’s beaches by drunken British tourists, there’s going to be some SUI lawyers advertising their services on TimeOutDubai.com, next to the Madinat Jumeirah hotel brunch ads.
