Giving Thanks - To Priceline, for Cheaper Flights & less Hassles
Thanksgiving is almost here, and its time to reflect on our good fortune. Sure I’m grateful for everything I have, but Thanksgiving travel is not something which people are really thankful for. In fact, the spirit of Thanksgiving is usually the last thing that comes to mind when you’re stuck at a miserable airport lounge in the middle of nowhere, dreaming about sunny vacations in Honolulu.
This year, though, things might be a bit different, thanks to the drop in the price of oil and the recession meaning that fewer travelers will be on the road. Even better, Priceline has come up with its annual ‘Best Days To Fly’ Calendar for the 2008 Thanksgiving and December holidays, helping travelers lock in low prices for the best days.
This year, priceline.com is offering a customizable calendar that will let travelers see best travel days and sample prices personalized for the trips they want to take.
For Thanksgiving, priceline.com customers generally are finding: – For the lowest fares, try to travel on November 23, 24 and 27 (Thanksgiving morning). – For average-priced fares, try to travel on November 22 and 25. – Consumers can expect to pay the highest fares if they travel on November 21 and 26.
For the December holidays, priceline.com customers generally are finding: – For the lowest fares, try to travel on December 22, 23 and 24. – For average-priced fares, try to travel on December 17, 18, 21, 26, and 30, and January 1 and 2. – Consumers can expect to pay the highest fares if they travel on December 19, 20 and 28, and January 3 and 4.
More details here. You might want to combine this info with Yapta, which will help you get your money back post-booking, if the price drops, inspite of Priceline’s tips. Kinda like backup insurance…
