Huck Finn Jubilee, Victorville, CA - Mark Twain’s America Revisited
Tales of life on the river, jumping frogs, hot air balloons and the arrival of a small town circus can be lived first hand this Father’s Day weekend (June 19-21, 2009) when the 33rd Annual Huck Finn Jubilee (www.huckfinn.com) Country & Bluegrass Festival rolls into Victorville, California.
Location: The 800 acre Mojave Narrows Regional Park, surrounded by woods, meadows and lakes along the Mojave River near Victorville, CA. It offers camping, horseback riding and fishing for an outing suitable to the likes of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.
Artist lineup for 2009 includes Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Dailey and Vincent, The Grascals, The Lonesome River Band, Claire Lynch, Danny Paisley & Southern Grass, Sawmill Road, Wayne Taylor & Appaloosa, and Julie Wingfield. Plus, of course, there’s Mark Twain Live, and Line Dance Workshops with KC Douglas, and Clog Dancing with the Bon Family Cloggers.
Other activities include the California State Arm Wrestling Championships, Route 66 Classic Car Show, Russel Bros. Circus, and 1880’s Games & Contests.
Food and crafts villages will offer meals and shopping. As for lodging facilities, the organizers have set up facilities with plenty of camping zones - You can camp around Horseshoe Lake or on the large lawn areas behind main stage. Restrooms, dump station and shower facilities are also located on the park.
In addition, Victorville CA hotels which are named by the organizers include the Hawthorn Suites, Red Roof Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Comfort Suites.
Parking and admission for children younger than 6 years is free. Youth 6 years to 12 years $5, general admission, $15-$20.
