PC Konk the Clown Strip Searched by Birmingham Airport Security
There’s no youtube vid, but just imagine the scene. Clown wearing bright blue clown trousers, massive shoes and a flashing police helmet trips a security alarm at the airport. Airport Security Chiefs decide its no laughing matter, and order the clown strip searched. Now he’s standing in a t-shirt and shorts, and the dastardly friskers have even taken away the police clown’s plastic handcuffs.
The clown in question is 60 year old Kids entertainer Dave Vaughan - aka PC Konk the clown, and the airport where he was suspected of being a terrorist in a clown’s disguise was Brimingham International Airport.
PC Konk has been a kids entertainer for 25 years, and he was trying to board a flight for disadvantaged kids. He had been booked by Variety Club Midlands to perform for kids on the Search for Santa trip, which involves a one-hour round flight, sponsored by Thomas Cook.
After a 10 minute inspection, PC Konk was set free, boarded the plane, entertained the kids for an hour, and upon landing, was handed back his plastic handcuffs.
Speaking of entertaining kids, the LA Times has a neat round up of what’s new in 2009 at all the major theme parks.
And I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and good luck with the holiday travel, even though most every airport is choking and bottlenecked with bad weather. But then, that’s what makes it so special - That you travel back home inspite of all the bad weather, and the cancelled flights and missed connections and the crowded airports.
