Prince Charles’ Holiday Cottage - Llwynywermod in Carmarthenshire

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall at LlwynywermodBetcha didn’t know that Prince Charles is renting out his shiny new Welsh residence to commoners like me for a few quid a night.

Times UK reviews Prince Charles’ Holiday cottage, and says that the Duchy of Cornwall bought Llwynywermod in November 2006. Llwynywermod is near the village of Myddfai in Llandovery, Carmarthenshire.

Only the three-bedroom coach house and an adjoining dining room are private to Their Royal Highnesses; the other three sides of the farmhouse’s quadrangle are given over to the housekeeper, a function room and a pair of holiday cottages that can be rented by anyone who can afford £20pp per night.

I know the British have a thing for names, as the New York Times explained in detail few months back, but how on earth could you have a farmhouse named Llwynywermod in a place like Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, which is near Myddfai. I mean, c’mon… ask former President George W. Bush to pronounce any one of these names, and it’ll turn into a laugh riot.

You’ll also be shocked to know that some Houston motels do not clean up dirty hypodermic needles and used alcohol swabs left behind by the previous guest. That’s what happened to Huntington, WV resident Douglas Hodge, when he checked into a Super 8 Motel in Baytown, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

When he was ready to go to bed, he reclines back, and gets pierced by a used and dirty hypodermic needle. Pulls back the covers and finds many more needles and used alocohol swabs. The incident cocured on March 17, 2007, and since then, Hodge has had to undergo several series of repeat blood tests for HIV and Hepatitis.

The motel refused to pay his medical expenses. And so Douglas Hodge has filed a lawsuit against the motel alleging “mental anguish, fear and anxiety that he could possibly have contracted an infections life threatening disease.” His wife Sandra Hodge is also a plaintiff, and her allegation is that her husband can “no longer provide love, companionship, affection, society, moral support, financial support and solace.”
